I was born in Hillsdale, and attended the Hillsdale Academy since kindergarten. Going to Hillsdale College simply seemed a logical progression to me because of my previous experience. I had learned to appreciate a liberal arts education in a small classroom setting, with the opportunity to exert myself academically and athletically. However, I applied to and visited half a dozen other colleges in order to make a better informed decision. In the end, the best option happened to be in my hometown.

I am a member of the Catholic Society, a photographer for the Collegian and Winona, and a volunteer for Paint the Town and Walk for Life.

I like the balance that comes from being a student-athlete at Hillsdale. A liberal arts education emphasizes the importance of a well-rounded individual. Competing in track and field challenges my body while my classes test my mind.

Obviously, self-discipline is mandatory in order to balance the demanding schedule of a student-athlete. But at Hillsdale, the support at the College bolsters the athlete and really makes it possible to succeed academically and athletically. Both the coaches and professors have a sincere interest in your performance in the other aspect of your life.

I have many wonderful memories from the long weekends spent with 75 talented, close-knit athletes. In terms of personal success, the highlight of my career so far has been setting a school record in the 20# weight throw as a sophomore. However, seeing my teammates perform at a high level and watching their progression has given me an equal thrill and made me proud to be a Charger.
