Dwight Harwood, ’14—He distinguished himself as an all-around athlete and later as a coach and athletic director. He led the 1938 football team to an undefeated season.
Nate Clark, ’57—One of the most popular gridiron players in Hillsdale’s athletic history. He still holds the all-time school scoring record with 51 career touchdowns and the all-time career total points with 309.
Dick Lowry—During 17 years as Hillsdale’s head football coach, Lowry led his teams to five GLIAC championships and one Midwest Intercollegiate Football Conference (MIFC) title, qualified for the NAIA National Playoffs five times and won the NAIA National Championship in 1985, Hillsdale’s first national football championship.
The 1938 Football Team—Rated one of the strongest teams in school history, the 1938 squad finished the season as the only undefeated and untied team in the state of Michigan. Hillsdale outscored its eight opponents by a combined score of 224 to 27.
Erin Gillespie Bunting, ’89—She was a three-time NAIA National Champion, seven-time NAIA All-American and six-time NAIA Academic All-American as well as a national record holder in the 10,000-meter run.
Paul Aufdemberge, ’87—He was a seven-time NAIA All-American in track and cross-country, a two-time NAIA Academic All-American and a three-time NAIA track champion.
