Scott Schulte

Scott Schulte, ’94—A running back, Schulte has nearly twice as many rushing yards as anyone in school history, finishing his incredible career in 1993 with 4,495 yards on the ground. He holds three of the top five single-season rushing totals, with a high of 1,582 yards in 1992, the most by any Hillsdale running back in its history. He was an NAIA All-American in 1992, and also holds the school record for rushing attempts in a season with 300 in 1993. He was the Michigan Intercollegiate Football Conference Player of the Year in 1992 and 1993, and was a Harlon Hill Trophy Candidate in 1993.

Connie Bricker—As director of financial aid at Hillsdale College for 28 years, Bricker helped thousands of Hillsdale College athletes make it through school with her work in the financial aid office. She helped create and implement the Hillsdale College ARC (Academic Reward Program) Scholarship/Loan program, the Hillsdale Tradition Award Program, the SOAR (Service Opportunities and Rewards) Program and the Hillsdale College Campus Work Study Program.

Doug Hansen, ’66—Making his mark as both an athlete and coach, Hansen helped take the Hillsdale College track and cross country programs from strong to an elite national power. In 1970, he was named track and cross country coach in addition to being the chair of the physical education department. He led Hillsdale to six GLIAC cross-country championships and 11 GLIAC track and field championships. He coached more than 160 All-Americans in track and field, and earned 17 NAIA District Coach of the Year awards.

Jim Larkin, ’61—A three-time All-MIAA selection, Larkin was one of the conference’s top players from 1958-60 in football. He was a two-time NAIA All-American and was a sixth-round draft choice of the Denver Broncos in 1961. He later spent three seasons on former coach Muddy Waters’ Charger staff as offensive line coach and director of player personnel. He was head coach at Saginaw Valley State College in 1980 and 1981.

Belinda Richards-Shaffer, ’85—She was a nationally recognized runner for the Hillsdale College cross-country and women’s track teams from 1982-85. In that time, she set Hillsdale’s school record for the indoor 300 meter dash at 36.1 seconds, a record that still stands today. She is also part of the school-record 400 meter relay team, a mark set back in 1982. She was an All-American as part of that relay team in 1982 and was an Academic All-American in 1984. She currently ranks in the top five in four different sprint events in outdoor track and field. She was also a member of three district championship cross country teams and earned All-District honors in cross country.
