Head Coach Jamie Meyers

Jamie Meyers

Jamie Meyers will enter her second season coaching the Hillsdale College softball program in 2008. After a fine playing career for the Chargers, Meyers took over the program in September of 2007.

Meyers brought in one of the biggest recruiting classes in the program's history for the 2009 season. Eight players join the Chargers this season, allowing Meyers to place her stamp on the program she contributed much to as a player from 2004-07.

A native of Toledo, Ohio, Meyers was a four-year starter for the Chargers from 2004-2007 and ended her career as the program’s all-time leader in career home runs with 19.  She was a three-time Second Team All-GLIAC player at shortstop and was team captain for two years.  She was named to the GLIAC's All-Academic Softball Team twice and was the team's MVP in 2005. Meyers attended Sylvania Northview High School, graduating in 2003.

“Jamie is a great addition to our staff,” said Hillsdale College Athletic Director Dr. Mike Kovalchik said.  “Being able to keep her as part of the program, this time as a coach, is a real plus for us. She knows our school and knows our mission and will maintain those qualities and requirements in her new role.”

Assistant Coach Michelle Tatlock

Joining head coach Jamie Meyers on the Charger softball coaching staff this season is Michelle Tatlock, a news story imagerecent graduate of Florida Southern College.

Tatlock played professionally for the Philadelphia Force in National Professional Fastpitch, from June-August of 2008.

While at Florida Southern, Tatlock was a four-year starter for one of the most successful Division II programs in the nation. As a sophomore in 2006, she was named to the South Regional All-Tournament Team, where she batted in seven runs and batted .385 for the team. She had one of her best games that season against Hillsdale, when she drove in four runs with a home run and a double on March 18, 2006.

She finished her career with 190 hits, 133 runs scored, 109 runs batted in, and a career batting average of .304. Her 18 career triples are also fourth in school history.

Tatlock is a 2004 graduate of Osceola High School in Seminole, Florida, where she played softball and volleyball. She was her softball team’s MVP in 2003 and 2004, and was named her school’s Most Athletic Female as a senior.

Tatlock was a finance major at Florida Southern and plans to pursue a master’s degree in teaching. She was born Feb. 16, 1986 and is the daughter of Keevan and Linda.
