This workshop will focus on early spring woodland plants. Participants will learn some keys to identifying spring ephemerals and get information about the plants’ natural history. As you tour the woods, you will also learn about some of the obstacles that may be preventing your woodland plants from presenting spectular blooms each spring.

You don't need fancy equipment or a lot of experience with photography to benefit from this two-part workshop from local portrait photographer, Pam Heckel. The morning session teaches practical tips for making beautiful portraits in the outdoors. The afternoon session utilizes your new skills in an actual portrait session with your own child model or family.

Have you ever seen a plant you wanted but didn’t know its name or how to find it? In this class, campus horticulturist Angie Girdham will walk you through the process of learning how to use a plant identification key. First, you will learn how to ID the different parts of the plant and the taxonomy terminology used to describe them, focusing on trees and some shrubs. Then you will walk through the Arb and put your new knowledge to work. Handouts will be provided.
