  • Named after: E. Christopher Benzing, local businessman
  • Arrangement: Single- and double-occupancy rooms are arranged in suites, with each suite sharing a bathroom.

The Dow House

  • Built: Late 1850s-early 1860s
  • Named after: Lorenzo Dow, an 1887 alumnus who served the College as secretary-treasurer and on the board of Trustees for 20 years, during which time he lived in this house
  • Arrangement: The Dow House differs from most residence halls in that it is a Victorian era villa-type house.  The women who live there are under the supervision of two resident assistants.

Mauck Residence

  • Built: 1927
  • Named after: Frances Ball Mauck, wife of former College president Joseph William Mauck
  • Arrangement: Mauck has a variety of single- and double-occupancy rooms; some are suites with adjoining bathrooms, other rooms are detached with community bathrooms. Without a doubt, Mauck’s most notable feature is its extensive lobby, beautifully furnished in the style of the late 1920s when it was built. The upperclass women who live there are under the supervision of a student resident director.

  • Named after: Brouwer D. and Jane E. McIntyre
  • Arrangement: Rooms are arranged in suites, with each suite sharing a bathroom.

Niedfeldt Residence

  • Built: 1990Named after: L.A. “Red” and Phyllis Niedfeldt
  • Arrangement: Niedfeldt consists of single- and double-occupancy rooms with adjoining bathrooms. Mrs. Niedfeldt remains very much a real presence in the lives of Niedfeldt residents, visiting them at least once a year.  The upperclass women who live there are under the supervision of a student resident director.

  • Named after: Metta Woodard Olds, former Woman Commissioner Arrangement: Rooms are detached; all residents use community bathrooms. Olds is unique in that it has a central, private courtyard.
