Recruitment

Sororities:

For women to join a Greek organization, a potential member will participate in Recruitment, a semester-long orientation process where potential members learn more about the different organizations and meet their members. Sororities participate in deferred recruitment, which means that membership invitations for first-year students are not extended until the beginning of second semester. There will be pre-recruitment events throughout the first semester and Formal Recruitment events beginning the Friday before second semester begins.

Recruitment is a mutual selection process between potential members and chapters. Not only do the organizations select new members, but potential members also select a chapter with which they would like to be affiliated.  In order to participate in Recruitment, women must have at least a 2.25 GPA at the conclusion of the previous semester.  Individual chapters, however, may have higher requirements.

Fraternities:

For men, the recruitment process begins first semester. It involves three different events and concludes with men’s pick-up.
