Conservation Club

The Conservation Club strives to preserve nature by raising awareness among Hillsdale College students who then participate in active conservation efforts worldwide.  The club fills this purpose through such events as trips to the G.H. Gordon Biological Station, work days, lab opportunities and summer internships.  The work days provide the unique opportunity to travel to a rare wetland ecosystem to help restore the area by removing invasive species and collecting wildflower seeds.  Lab opportunities enable members to develop lab skills by extracting African lion DNA and preparing samples to be analyzed on the DNA sequencer.  Members who have come to the lab are able to apply for summer internships, such as the South African Summer Internship Program with Dr. Dan York.
