Founded in 1925, Sigma Zeta is a national science and mathematics honorary. The purposes of the society are (1) to encourage and foster the attainment of knowledge of the sciences and (2) to recognize the attainment of high scholarship among members. To be eligible for election to membership in the Alpha Psi chapter, a student must have completed 25 semester hours with an average of at least 3.000, have completed a minimum of 15 semester hours in the sciences with at least a 3.000 grade-point average, and have a science or mathematics major (including pre-med).
