Benjamin E. Bodkin, '97

Ben has worked as a Legislative Coordinator for the Michigan Association of Counties since 2004.  Ben's areas of coverage include the Community Health Budget (Medicaid, county health departments, mental health, substance abuse, and responsibility for the lobbying contract for the Michigan County Medical Care Facilities Council), the Human Services Budget (foster care, Child Care Fund, Title IV-E, child support enforcement and Friend of the Court issues), technology issues (county wireless initiatives, LEIN funding, public safety communications issues, 911 funding), and environmental issues (Environmental Quality Budget, Natural Resources budget, solid waste, environmental fees, and PILT funding).  In addition, he is responsible for coordinating, fundraising, and staffing the Michigan Association fo Counties Political Action Committee (MAC-PAC).

Prior to joinging MAC, Ben worked in the Michigan State House and Senate for a period of nearly 7 years, including 2 years as Chief of Staff for a state Senate office.

Ben holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History with a Minor in Political Science and is a member of Phi Alpha Theta National History Honorary. 

Ben and his wife Emily (King, AXiD, '97) have a daughter, Katherine, who is five and two sons, Samuel, who is two, and Peter, who was born in October.  They attend Emanuel 1st Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lansing, MI and reside in Eaton Rapids, MI.
