Gifts from corporations come in many forms, depending on the company's interests and the College’s needs. While some companies give cash, others make gifts of equipment and software to faculty and student programs. Examples of gifts from corporations include:
Charitable gifts are tax-deductible in the year that they are made. If appreciated securities or other property are donated, the charitable tax deduction is based on the market value of the gift, not the cost basis. The value of the gift is determined by the donor, and Hillsdale College will recognize the gift with the appropriate IRS forms.
