PROJECTS: General Operating Budget and Grewcock Student Union
FUNDRAISERS: Parent-to-Parent Phonathon and Wine Tasting Consulting Business
The Parents Association Steering Committee (PASC) has chosen two areas of concentration for this year’s Parents Fundraiser.
The first is the GENERAL OPERATING BUDGET. These are typically the hardest funds to raise. However, behind every class, every seminar series, every athletic event and every service provided by Hillsdale College are resources that contribute toward the excellence of Hillsdale’s education and outreach. From library books to science laboratory supplies to building utilities to the faculty and staff, these resources comprise the College’s annual operating budget. Meeting our Founders Campaign goal of endowing one-half of the current operating budget reflects the College’s self-reliance and ensures its commitment to independence from federal taxpayer support. The annual operating budget provides the groundwork of everything Hillsdale does, for without these people and resources, the College cannot stand.
The second area of concentration is the new GREWCOCK STUDENT UNION, specifically, the formal lounge. Construction on the Grewcock Student Union began in August 2006, and the anticipated completion date is January 2008. The 52,000-square-foot building features the Richardson Commons, the Knorr Family Dining Room, a cyber cafe and a formal lounge, to name a few special areas. The offices of several student organizations will be housed here, as well. The total cost of the project is $19,675,000.

The Grewcock Student Union
The Parents Association Steering Committee (PASC) conducts two major fundraisers for this benefit:
The largest effort is the PHONATHON which takes place twice a year, just prior to Fall and Spring Parents Weekends. Parents come to campus and and call current parents, past parents and grandparents to solicit their contributions.
The second fundraiser is the WINE TASTING CONSULTING fundraiser. This takes place at each Parents Weekend on Saturday evening, when our parents Ken and Karin Glass conduct classes on how to enjoy drinking fine boutique wines. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn how to taste, rate and pair our boutique wines with food. Order online directly from Agua Dulce Vineyard in California and have your wine delivered right to your door on a monthly basis. Order it for your business partners, your friends and your family. Hillsdale College Parents Fund will receive 25% of the retail price. Should you wish to start your own Wine Tasting Consulting business, let us know. Please visit our wine Web site, and order today!
