PROJECTS: Student Fitness Project and General Operating Budget

FUNDRAISERS: Parent-to-Parent Phonathon and Cruise Raffle

The Parents Association Steering Committee (PASC) has chosen two areas of concentration for this year’s Parents Fund.

The first is the General Operating Budget. These are typically the hardest funds to raise. However, behind every class, every seminar series, every athletic event and every service provided by Hillsdale College are resources that contribute toward the excellence of Hillsdale’s education and outreach. From library books to science laboratory supplies to building utilities to the faculty and staff, these resources comprise the College’s annual operating budget. Meeting our Founders Campaign goal of endowing one-half of the current operating budget reflects the College’s self-reliance and ensures its commitment to independence from federal and state taxpayer support. The annual operating budget provides the groundwork of everything Hillsdale does, for without these people and resources, the College cannot stand.

The second area of concentration is the new Sports Complex Construction and Renovation. The Parents Association has adopted the Student Fitness Center Project for its 2012-2013 fundraising drive. Parents’ support for the project is key to its success. Hillsdale College has plans in place to expand its current athletic facilities by constructing an indoor track and tennis building and an all-purpose turf facility, as well as renovating the Roche Health Education and Sports Complex to include a Student Fitness Center. The new construction and renovations are necessary to meet the growing participation in athletics and personal fitness by Hillsdale College students, faculty, and staff.

The PARENT-TO-PARENT PHONATHON takes place twice a year, just prior to Fall and Spring Parents Weekends. Parents come to campus and call current parents, past parents and grandparents to solicit their contributions. To volunteer for the phonathon, please contact our office at (517) 607-2382 or by e-mail.

The CRUISE RAFFLE will endeavor to sell no more than 300 tickets at $300 per ticket for a chance to win a cruise for two on the next Hillsdale College Cruise, from Reykjavik, Iceland, to London, England, June 4-15, 2013. Airfare for two will be included as well as a beautiful Stateroom B with private verandah on the Crystal Symphony.
