Dear Parents,
One of many things that sets Hillsdale apart from other colleges is its rigorous core curriculum. The core is comprised of seven intensive courses. Students immerse themselves in great literature during the two-semester Great Books sequence. They discover the significance and distinction of Western civilization and our American heritage. They explore the physical, chemical and biological worlds through a yearlong natural science course that stresses hands-on lab experimentation. And they spend one semester studying the U.S. Constitution and its underlying principles. We believe our core curriculum fosters a lifelong love of learning and a deepening respect for a body of knowledge that, as our Mission Statement says, “will best develop the minds and improve the hearts of the students.”
The undergraduate years are marked by intellectual and spiritual growth, and are shaped by liberal arts learning—by the study of the good, the true and the beautiful. You and your child have chosen one of the very finest liberal arts colleges in the nation.
