About

Volunteer teachers in the Hillsdale College Latin Teacher Program commit to teaching Latin for 45 minutes twice a week (Tuesdays and Thursdays at 11:00) at the nearby Hillsdale Preparatory School. Novice volunteer teachers are paired with veterans to gain hands-on experience with teaching Latin at the elementary and middle school levels. Teachers at Hillsdale Prep support volunteers through teaching observations and assistance with curriculum planning, while the student program director coordinates all program logistics and provides additional teaching support.

How to Apply

Students may enroll in CLS 393 (the Latin Teacher Apprenticeship) for up to two hours of college credit, or may apply volunteer hours towards their HTA requirement. Prospective volunteers and interested students are invited to apply in the last few weeks of the semester to secure a spot in the following Fall or Spring. Students who wish to be enrolled in the credit option will be automatically added to the course once they have been admitted to the program. Please contact Dr. Laury Ward ([email protected]) for more details.
