Humane Society

Hillsdale College

The mission of the Hillsdale County Humane Society is to provide a safe, friendly, and clean environment for abandoned pets as the society attempts to place them in foster and permanent homes. The shelter aims to help end the epidemic of overpopulation by spaying, neutering, immunizing, and adopting stray and surrendered dogs and cats. Volunteers work in all phases of the Humane Society to care for animals: walking dogs, playing with cats, cleaning kennels, assisting with laundry and dishes, feeding, fundraising events like the annual “Wiggle Waggle Walk-a-Thon,” and adoption events like those held at the Detroit Zoo in September and May.
