Introduction to Journalism

Journalism 301-302

This two-semester sequence focuses on journalistic writing and an ethical free press. Journalism 301 offers practice in news writing and copyediting, accompanied by the study of style, punctuation, usage, and spelling. Journalism 302 continues with practice in feature writing, editorial writing, headlines, typography, and layout. Journalism 301 and 302 are offered in the fall and spring semesters, respectively. English 101 is a prerequisite and sophomore standing is required, as are basic typing and computer skills. Students must complete Journalism 301 before starting Journalism 302.
