Principal Candidate Search

Do you aspire to lead a classical K-12 charter school?

Over the next few years, Hillsdale College will be helping to establish several classical K-12 charter schools around the U.S. through a charter school initiative. As it does so, it seeks qualified candidates to serve as principals.

Responsibilities

These principals, accountable to a board of parent founders, will be responsible for hiring teachers, implementing a classical liberal arts and civic-minded curriculum, establishing a studious and decorous school culture, maintaining healthy enrollment, and ensuring financial integrity. In addition, they will work to foster an understanding of liberal arts education and the virtues of school choice among parents and the larger community. In all their work they will draw upon the advice and experience of Hillsdale College faculty involved in the charter school initiative.

Requirements

Candidates should have a solid understanding of classical education and a dedication to the liberal arts and the teaching of civics. Preferred candidates will have a master’s degree, teaching experience at the K-12 or college level, a record of leadership, and demonstrated abilities in speaking and writing.

How to Apply

Openings will be ongoing for various locations. Those interested should submit a letter of introduction, a curriculum vitae, academic transcripts, a one-page statement on classical liberal arts education, and employment and academic references to the charter school initiative at [email protected].
