Education for Teachers

Education for Teachers

Hundreds of teachers from Barney Charter School Initiative schools attend teacher-training conferences in Hillsdale, Michigan, each summer. The three-day conferences provide teachers with the opportunity to learn from college professors and other seasoned teachers.

BCSI teachers are expected to have an expert grasp on their subjects, their classrooms, and their teaching methods. This is no small task. Summer teacher training allows us to support our teachers on all of these fronts while providing a comfortable and friendly environment for teachers to compare notes and cultivate a sense of community and purpose.

Through this online resource, we are pleased to make video recordings of some of these sessions available to a wider audience than the BCSI schools in attendance. We recommend these lectures for teachers, parents, administrators, and anyone else trying to review or understand classical school pedagogy.
