Written between October 1787 and August 1788, The Federalist Papers is a collection of newspaper essays written by Publius—the pen name of Alexander Hamilton, James Madison, and John Jay—in defense of the Constitution. This seminar will explore such important themes as the problem of majority faction, the separation of powers, and federalism.
