Biography
Learning about learning has been a love of mine for more than 20 years. Finding ways to encourage learners and engage higher-level thinking in students remains a challenging aspect within the education field. There is a term, metacognition,
which describes a process that employs cognition about cognition,
thinking about thinking,
or knowing about knowing.
I find this the key to empowering learning and bringing an intrinsic drive to my students. Metacognitive knowledge is about our own cognitive processes and our understanding of how to regulate those processes to maximize learning. The true rewards or love of my chosen field lie in those moments when one can spark learning within a student and share the experience of knowing.
