Five Tips to Survive Your 8 a.m.

So you’re registered for an 8 a.m. class this semester. Here are some ideas to make it through those early mornings (from a girl who barely functions in the morning).

Lofty and Lovely: The Rhetoric of Hillsdale College Architecture

Our purpose here is high, and so are the ceilings. As students and faculty sit, studying, their voices carry lofty ideas upward, almost as if we are delivering them back from where they came. Those tall ceilings remind us to look up. Those long windows, evenly spaced invitations of sunlight, remind us that the things we study and our ideas about them expand far beyond the classroom walls.

5 Unexpected Blessings from COVID-19

COVID-19 has taken many things from Hillsdale College students, but it has also brought some unexpected blessings. By focusing on these blessings, I can more easily manage the great losses. These five blessings are those that I focus on the most.

Getting Along with the College’s Motto

Virtus tentamine gaudet, for Hillsdale students, is a unifying motto and the College’s promise of commitment to our education, not something to fear. I learned this quickly from alumni as I tried to decide whether to apply here, from my experience visiting campus, and now as I live it out freshman year.
