Political economy curriculum combines work from the three disciplines of economics, history, and politics. This approach allows students to gain a broad, well-rounded background in these inter-related areas, providing a unique perspective and preparation for law school, or for political and governmental positions.

Political Economy Major
A major in political economy requires the completion of 37 credit hours, including:
Economics (18 hours)
- Economics 105: Introduction to Political Economy
- Economics 202: Principles of Microeconomics
- Economics 203: Principles of Macroeconomics
- Economics 355: History of Economic Thought I
- Economics 356: History of Economic Thought II
- one additional three-hour elective from among upper-division (300 and above) economics courses
Politics (12 hours)
- Politics 101: U.S. Constitution
- three three-hour politics elective courses
History (six hours)
- History 307: Reconstruction to World War II, or
- History 308: U.S. and the World Since World War II
- History 315: Nineteenth-Century Europe, or
- History 316: Europe in the 20th Century, or
- History 442: U.S. Economic History
All political economy majors must complete a senior thesis.
