Michigan Supreme Court Hears Oral Arguments on Hillsdale College Campus, Hosts Local Students as Part of Community Outreach Program

 HILLSDALE, Mich. — Hillsdale College hosted the Michigan Supreme Court’s 26th Community Connection outreach program on April 26 in Plaster Auditorium. The seven justices of the Michigan Supreme Court heard oral arguments and met with students at a reception following the case. The program aims to help local high school and college students understand the appellate court and Michigan’s judicial system.

HILLSDALE, Mich. — Hillsdale College announces its newest Judith Finn Memorial Award winner, Nathan Neveau. Neveau will receive his master’s degree this year in politics from the College’s Van Andel Graduate School of Statesmanship. Neveau’s academic interests include the relationship between Christianity, politics, and education.

HILLSDALE, Mich. — This year, Hillsdale College celebrates the 50th anniversary of its speech digest Imprimis and the 40th anniversary of its National Leadership Seminar (NLS) program.

Student Dance Company Tower Dancers Hosts Annual Spring Concert

HILLSDALE, Mich. — Tower Dancers, the resident student dance company at Hillsdale College, hosted its annual concert in Markel Auditorium April 22-24. This free performance featured 10 dances: two choreographed by guest artists, three by faculty, and five by students. Featured dance genres included modern, ballet, contemporary ballet, and jazz ensembles.

Hillsdale College Hosts Center for Teacher Excellence in Jacksonville, Florida

HILLSDALE, Mich. — Hillsdale College’s K-12 Education Office hosted the Charles R. and Kathleen K. Hoogland Center for Teacher Excellence (CTE) to expand the reach of Hillsdale College’s message of classical curricula and subject mastery to a nationwide audience of teachers. Seminars were open to all middle and high-school teachers on April 22, at the Southbank Hotel Jacksonville Riverwalk.

Hillsdale College Professor Awarded 2022 Themistocles Award

HILLSDALE, Mich. — The Department of International and European Studies of the University of Piraeus presented the 2022 Themistocles Award to Paul A. Rahe, Hillsdale College professor of history and Charles O. Lee and Louise K. Lee Chair in the Western Heritage, at a ceremony in Athens, Greece, on April 11.

Hillsdale College Student Earns Second Team All-Star Honors at Intercollegiate Club Rifle National Championship

HILLSDALE, Mich. — Four members of the Hillsdale rifle team represented the College in team and individual events at the Intercollegiate Club Rifle National Championship in Fort Wayne on April 3. Senior team captain Mary-Kate Brox took 5th place overall with an individual score of 579, earning her Second Team All-Star honors in airgun. This award is the club-level analog of All-American honors and recognizes the top performers in each discipline throughout the academic year.

Hillsdale College Hosts First High School Youth Shoot

HILLSDALE, Mich. — Hillsdale College’s Halter Shooting Sports Education Center hosted its first open Youth Invitational Shoot on April 9. Approximately 35 local high-school students had the opportunity to shoot American trap and sporting clays at the center.

The three-day event included activities including campus and Halter Center tours, dinner with live music, recognition at the College’s Spring Convocation, a memorial service, and class attendance.
