Daniel Drummond Named Hillsdale College’s 2017 Outstanding Senior Man
Hillsdale, Mich. — Hillsdale College congratulates Daniel Drummond for being named the Outstanding Senior Man of the Class of 2017. The Outstanding Senior awards are given every year to one man and one woman who have distinguished themselves in the areas of leadership, academic achievement and extracurricular engagement.
Drummond’s academic record demonstrates the highest degree of excellence. As a double major in marketing management and history with a Latin minor, he has made the Dean’s list seven times, is also a member of the Collegiate Scholars Program, and is captain of the Hillsdale College football team. In the remaining time between academics and athletics, Drummond plays piano for the College and for senior citizens as part of a local service program. He has also been active in various student ministries, co-leading his team’s bible study and participating in InterVarsity and missions trips during spring breaks. Since his sophomore year, he has worked as a resident advisor in the Simpson Residence Hall.
When asked how Hillsdale has impacted his life, Drummond shared how the College gave him the ability to explore all of his passions and interests.
“Looking forward to college, I wondered if I would be able to continue pursuing my varied interests or if I would finally be forced to choose between them,” Drummond said. “Knowing full well the rigorous academic lives characteristic of Hillsdale students, I fully expected the latter to hold true. To my pleasant surprise, however, Hillsdale encouraged me to let all of my interests or passions thrive, and I am so thankful for that.”
