Hillsdale Academy Wins Big at 2017 Hillsdale County Middle School Quiz Bowl Competition
5th, 6th, and 8th graders take first place
Hillsdale, Mich. — Hillsdale Academy congratulates its students who competed in this year’s Hillsdale County Middle School Quiz Bowl Competition. A total of 40 teams participated in the competition, with the Academy’s fifth, sixth, and eighth-grade teams finishing in first place in their respective divisions. The Academy’s other eighth-grade team finished second.
“We are extremely proud and pleased with how our students performed at this year’s competition,” said Dr. Ken Calvert, headmaster of Hillsdale Academy. “I truly believe we have some of the brightest kids in the state, and these results are a testament to that belief. Everyone who participated did an excellent job.”
Hillsdale Academy wishes to recognize the following first-place and second-place finishers:
- First-place 5th grade team: Rykert Frisinger, Sam Clark, Paul Rahe, Lydia Jackson, and Grant Walton
- First-place 6th grade team: Damion Scharer, Anastasia Rush, Evie Gray, Ridley Fast, and Dominic Scharer
- First-place 8th grade team: Francesca Rahe, Marius Rood-Menefee, Kiera Welden, Stanley Postula, and Lucas Reynolds
- Second-place 8th grade team: Ryan VanHavel, Christian Gossage, Nick Treloar, Spencer Kawalek, and Joel Mekelburg
