Hillsdale College Faculty Jazz Ensemble Releases New Album

The Hillcats partner with vocalist Gianna Marchese for CD release concert featuring new music

On Friday, September 8, The Hillcats, Hillsdale College’s faculty jazz ensemble, will perform a concert featuring music from the group’s new record “Lean On It.” Directed by music department faculty member Chris McCourry, The Hillcats are joined by jazz vocalist Gianna Marchese.

Immediately following the concert, attendees are invited to a jazz afterglow reception in the McNamara Rehearsal Hall of the Howard Music Building. The reception will feature music from student jazz combo Rob Roy. The Hillcats’ album “Lean On It” will be available for purchase at a special discount. The Hillcats are Hillsdale College’s faculty jazz ensemble, directed by Chris McCourry, director of jazz ensembles and trumpet instructor at Hillsdale College. The group’s latest album “Lean On It,” a collection of original arrangements of American classics like Sammy Fain’s “I’ll Be Seeing You” and “You Go To My Head” from J. Fred Coots. The ensemble features Gianna Marchese on vocals, Chris McCourry on trumpet, Jon Gerwitz on saxophone, Arlene McDaniel on piano, Hank Horton on bass and Larry Ochiltree on drums.
