Hillsdale College Honors Courtney Meyet with Daugherty Teaching Award
Assistant professor of chemistry recognized for teaching excellence at Fall Convocation
Hillsdale, Mich. – Hillsdale College awarded the Daugherty Award for Teaching Excellence to assistant professor of chemistry Courtney E. Meyet during the college’s Fall Convocation on November 7, 2017.
“Dr. Meyet’s passion for her work is inspiring to the students and faculty who encounter her,” said David Whalen, Hillsdale College provost. “We are proud to recognize with this award her dedication to enriching Hillsdale’s academic environment.”
Meyet earned her masters and doctorate degrees from the University of California-Riverside before joining the Hillsdale College Faculty in 2013. She has spent her time at Hillsdale fostering student interest and skill in chemistry, a field she herself was initially wary of, through undergraduate research projects. Her own work has been published in Journal of Organic Chemistry; Organic Letters; Proceedings of World Conference on E-Learning in Corporate, Government, Healthcare, and Higher Education; and National Center for Case Study Teaching in Science.
Named for elementary and secondary school teacher Emily Daugherty, the Daugherty Award for Teaching Excellence honors those who have exemplified her commitment to growing knowledge, wisdom and virtue in students. The honor has been awarded to 21 other Hillsdale professors. Hallmarks of teaching excellence include:
