Hillsdale College Honors Faculty, Staff for Service to College
College celebrates a combined 1,182 years of service at annual Christmas dinner
Hillsdale, Mich. – Hillsdale College congratulates its faculty and staff for their dedication and service, honored with service awards at the College’s annual Christmas dinner on December 11. Employees were honored based on the length of their service at Hillsdale, with special recognition accorded to those who were retiring that year.
“It is a pleasure to recognize the contributions of our talented faculty and staff,” said Rich Péwé, chief administrative officer at the College. “Each of these individuals plays a critical role in the College’s mission and success—many of them from behind the scenes.”
In 2018, Hillsdale celebrated 1,182 years of combined service. Faculty and staff were honored for five-year increments of service, stretching from five years to 40 years. Joanne Cook, internal auditor, topped the list with 40 years of service to the College. Additionally, eight individuals retired in 2018, including Robert Blackstock, professor of law, 42 years of service; Jackie Blackstock, lecturer in economics, 28 years of service; Todd Clow, physical plant director, 32 years of service; Larry Ellair, custodian, 12 years of service; Patricia Iszler, administrative aide, 28 years of service; Lois Knape, house director, 28 years of service; Patricia Loper, staff assistant for faculty, 29 years of service; and Nancy Ritz, custodian, 18 years of service.
“In a job market that’s increasingly transient, 1,182 years of combined service to an institution is quite an achievement,” added Péwé. “We are deeply grateful for our employees’ service to the College.”
