Hillsdale College Hosts Evening Lecture with Author Richard Vedder
Notable scholar will detail free-speech abuses and corruption in higher education in America

Washington, D.C. – On Thursday, November 21, the Hillsdale College Washington, D.C. campus will host an evening lecture from Richard Vedder, senior fellow at the Independent Institute, to discuss his book, Restoring the Promise: Higher Education in America. Vedder’s lecture will examine the current issues facing universities around the country—such as free-speech suppression, federal aid programs, and corruption—and how the federal government contributed to them.
The lecture is free and open to the media, but space is limited. Attendees are encouraged to register by visiting the event’s ticketing site.

WHO
Richard Vedder is a Senior Fellow at the Independent Institute and a Distinguished Emeritus Professor of Economics at Ohio University. He earned his Ph.D. in economics from the University of Illinois and previously served as senior economist at the U.S. Joint Economic Committee and Visiting Fellow at the Center for the Study of American Business at Washington University in St. Louis. Vedder is the author of Going Broke by Degree: Why College Costs Too Much and co-author of several books, including Out of Work: Unemployment and Government in Twentieth-Century America, Can Teachers Own Their Own Schools? New Strategies for Educational Excellence, and more. His work has also appeared in Forbes, National Review, Wall Street Journal, and Investor’s Business Daily.
