Area students had the opportunity to shoot at the Halter Center, received awards

HILLSDALE, Mich. — Hillsdale College’s Halter Shooting Sports Education Center hosted its first open Youth Invitational Shoot on April 9. Approximately 35 local high-school students had the opportunity to shoot American trap and sporting clays at the center.

“This was another great opportunity to get kids out to the Halter Center to learn more about the College, our shooting team, and our world-class shooting facilities,” said Jordan Hintz, head coach of the Hillsdale College shotgun team. “We are thrilled to be able to share this great space with local youth who want to learn more about shooting sports.”

The top three finishers were area students Max Hatfield, Chance Stec, and Matthew Peterson.

Young shooters from the tri-state area come to Halter to shoot.

Students traded between shooting trap and sporting clays, with a complimentary lunch served at the Halter Center in between.
