Hillsdale, Mich. — The Hillsdale College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) hosted its second annual Trunk-or-Treat on Sunday, Oct. 31. This festive event was open to the greater Hillsdale community, and 750 children attended throughout the afternoon. Hillsdale College athletic teams, clubs, and dorms set up booths, provided games for local trick-or-treaters, and decorated cars.

Seventy-five Hillsdale College students representing 21 campus groups participated, with about 36 cars and Trick-or-Treat stations. The Hillsdale College golf team set up a putting green with their booth, which many children enjoyed. Each participating group provided candy, but SAAC also hosted candy donations throughout the week to supply some extra sweets during the festivities.

“Trunk-or-Treat isn’t just a great way for teams to interact with one another, but also a great opportunity for students to meet community members, other club members, and Panhellenic groups,” said Madelyn Schider, president of SAAC and Hillsdale College senior volleyball player. “Another big reason for hosting the event is because the goal of SAAC is to bring all the teams together and support one another.”

Hillsdale College’s SAAC organized the event last year to provide the children of Hillsdale County an opportunity to trick-or-treat safely outdoors. The event also raised over $500 for Make-a-Wish Michigan. This year’s festivities raised almost double that amount for Make-a-Wish.
