Hillsdale, Mich. – Hillsdale College’s John Anthony Halter Shooting Sports Education Center has opened four RV and camper spaces on its grounds to provide convenient accommodations for visitors. The opening marks the first of many facilities that will be built to give camp and conference attendees the option of on-site stays at the Halter Center’s extensive facilities.

Each space features full electrical and sewer hookups, and visitors can utilize the restroom and shower facilities located in the Halter Center’s nearby archery building. Guests of the shooting sports center have typically stayed at hotels near Hillsdale College’s campus, located five miles from the facilities. With the opening of the parking spaces, visitors can now take full advantage of the various ranges just outside their door. Individuals interested in camping at the Halter Center may reserve a spot for an extended stay in exchange for volunteer work on the range.

The RV and camping spaces are part of the lodging facilities that will be developed at the shooting sports center. Several cottages are in the first stages of fund raising, and each would offer lodging for up to 24 individuals during events hosted at the Halter Center.

Opened in 2008, the John Anthony Halter Shooting Sports Education Center aims to introduce individuals to and encourage interest in shooting sports. It sits on 113 acres and features ranges for small arms, archery, and shotgun, including Michigan’s only Olympic bunker trap. The Halter Center also serves an educational purpose by promoting the ideals of the Constitution and teaching classes for both beginner and experienced shooters. Home to Hillsdale’s Shotgun Team and shooting clubs, the Halter Center is also a resource to the public through camps, conferences and other programming.
