Hillsdale College Shotgun Sports Team Finishes Second at ACUI Midwest Regional Tournament

HILLSDALE, Mich. – Hillsdale College congratulates the Chargers Shotgun Sports Team, which finished second overall at the Association of College Unions International (ACUI) 4th Annual Midwest Conference Championship. The tournament, held Oct. 8-9 in St. Louis, Missouri, consisted of 11 teams from around the country. The Chargers’ finished with an overall score of 1419 out of 1500. “Despite the loss of several graduating seniors last spring, the team has continued to improve,” said Bart Spieth, range master and shooting sports programs coordinator for Hillsdale College. “It is impressive that we had several podium finishes in a competition with more than 200 collegiate shooters.” The Chargers competed in three events: American Skeet, American Trap and Sporting Clays. Kyle Luttig shot a 99 in American Trap, putting him in a shootout to claim second place in the event. Drew Lieske won first place in the Sporting Clays event with a 97, and senior Jordan Hintz’s 99 in American Skeet tied for second place. Both Lieske and Hintz finished second HOA with 287 out of 300. The Charger team will compete next at the Scholastic Clay Target Program College Nationals in Marengo, Ohio, on Oct. 28-30.
