Hillsdale, Mich. – Hillsdale College congratulates Ashlea Frazier, director of programs at the Allan P. Kirby, Jr. Center for Constitutional Studies and Citizenship, on winning the 2017 Buckley Award from the America’s Future Foundation.

“The Buckley Award is a well-deserved recognition not only of Ashlea’s good work at Hillsdale but also her devotion to bringing the principles of liberty to America’s future,” said Matthew Spalding, Associate Vice President and Dean of Educational Programs for Hillsdale College in Washington, D.C.

The Buckley Award, named for William F. Buckley, Jr., honors young professionals who exemplify Buckley’s legacy of service to core American principles through “leading or organizing a significant grassroots or high profile initiative, advancing conservative principles or young conservative activism, impacting news coverage of a high profile issue, or displaying courage under fire.”

Frazier, one of five 2017 award winners, manages the operations and development of the Kirby Center’s programs, focusing on furthering Hillsdale College’s mission and building relationships in the Washington, D.C., area. She also serves as a career adviser to students and young professionals.

“We live in a defining moment for our country, and what we do in the next months and years will determine the course of self-government, religious liberty, freedom of speech, and the principles of liberty,” Frazier said. “As America’s future, we have an obligation to safeguard and promote these ideas for ourselves and our posterity, and so our efforts of collaborating to revive, teach, and spread America’s first principles become vital endeavors.”

Before joining Hillsdale College’s Kirby Center staff, Frazier was a program manager for the Heritage Foundation’s Center for American Studies. She earned her bachelor’s degree in politics and public policy from Liberty University.

Frazier and the other recipients of the 2017 Buckley Award will be honored at the 8th Annual Buckley Awards Ceremony on Tuesday, November 14, in Washington, D.C. A photo of Frazier is available here.

The Allan P. Kirby, Jr. Center for Constitutional Studies and Citizenship is an extension of the teaching mission of Hillsdale College to Washington, D.C. Its purpose is to teach the Constitution and the principles that give it meaning. Through the study of original source documents from American history—and of older books that formed the education of America’s founders—the Center seeks to inspire students, teachers, citizens, and policymakers to return the Constitution to its central place in the political life of the nation.
