HILLSDALE, Mich. — Hillsdale College welcomed Halter Center members and the public to an open house at the John A. Halter Shooting Sports Education Center Open House on April 23. The sporting clays course was open, and free introductory clays lessons were provided to all new members. Other activities included free introductory lessons in archery, Olympic air pistol, and rifle shooting.

“We couldn’t have asked for a better day to welcome the public to take advantage of these great opportunities, especially those who might be interested in shooting sports but haven’t visited us before or know much about it,” said Bart Spieth, rangemaster at the Halter Center.

Attendees enjoyed Olympic bunker and international skeet. ATA Trap fields were also available along with the five-stand sporting clays. All ranges were available at special rates with no registration required to attend.

Menu items from the upcoming AcuSport Grill were available for sample at the open house. The new restaurant will host its grand opening at Halter on May 10.

The open house was one of many events hosted at the Halter Center, which begins its summer 5-stand and sporting clay leagues next month and will host many shooting competitions this summer.
