Kyra Rodi Named Hillsdale College’s 2017 Outstanding Senior Woman
Hillsdale, Mich. — Hillsdale College congratulates Kyra Rodi for being named the Outstanding Senior Woman of the Class of 2017. The Outstanding Senior awards are given every year to one man and one woman who have distinguished themselves in the areas of leadership, academic achievement and extracurricular engagement.
Rodi has consistently pursued a high degree of excellence. She received Dean’s list honors for six semesters as a biochemistry major and was inducted into several academic honor societies, including Tri-Beta, Sigma-Zeta, Iota Sigma Pi, and Lamplighters honoraries.
Additionally, Rodi actively participated in student athletics and ministries. She played on the Hillsdale College volleyball team and the Hillsdale College softball team. She served in ministry as a member of InterVarsity and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. She has worked on the board of the college’s 1844 Society and as a medical assistant in her hometown of Temecula, CA, helping with administrative work.
When asked how her time at Hillsdale had shaped her, Rodi expressed her gratitude for the College’s unique intellectual and social environment.
“Hillsdale has taught me how to think. It has taught me to make connections between different classes; it has given me a framework in which to understand life,” said Rodi. “I have learned to think critically, to stand by my beliefs, and to listen: genuinely and openly. The time spent here, and more importantly the people that I’ve come to know here, will forever impact how I live.”
