Hillsdale, MI — Hillsdale College congratulates Bradley J. Birzer, the College’s Russell Amos Kirk Chair in History, for winning the 2016 Paolucci Book Award for his biography, Russell Kirk: American Conservative. The Paolucci Award is presented annually by the Intercollegiate Studies Institute in honor of Henry and Anne Paolucci to recognize “the best book that advance conservative principles.”

“Brad’s dedication to Hillsdale’s students is matched only by his dedication to the study of history, particularly America’s heritage of liberty and limited government,” said David Whalen, Hillsdale College provost. “Our admired and much-loved professor Birzer is a very deserving recipient for this year’s Paolucci Award.”

The Wall Street Journal described Birzer’s biography of Russell Kirk as “a beautifully written and deeply insightful biography.” According to the Journal, it explores in detail the life and work of one of America’s most influential conservatives and offers an unprecedented understanding of Kirk’s thinking.

The Intercollegiate Studies Institute will honor Birzer at the Paolucci Award Dinner on Oct. 1.
