Hillsdale, MI – Hillsdale College announces its 2017 schedule for its Ladies for Liberty and Couples for Liberty shooting camps and seminars. Ladies for Liberty will be held July 30-Aug. 3. Couples for Liberty will be held June 25-30 and Sept. 10-15.

Participants of all experience levels learn shooting sports techniques and gun safety, and listen to lectures by Hillsdale College faculty members on topics related to the Constitution, including the Second Amendment.

Both camps take place at Hillsdale College’s John A. Halter Shooting Sports Education Center, a 105-acre, state-of–the-art training facility just five miles from the College’s main campus in Hillsdale, Mich.

“Over the years, this camp has given participants of all experience levels a better understanding and appreciation of firearms, firearm safety, and our Second Amendment rights as citizens,” said Kim Gehrke, organizer for Hillsdale College’s shooting sports camps. “This is a unique and fun opportunity to come together with like-minded people, and with some of the best firearms experts in the business. After the week is over, you will feel more confident and secure about handling firearms than you ever have.”

Ladies for Liberty has an enrollment fee of $1,200 per person and Couples for Liberty has an enrollment fee of $2,785 per couple. Fees cover lodging, meals, lectures, and receptions at the Dow Conference Center on the Hillsdale College campus and the Halter Shooting Sports Education Center.

Training topics include:

  • Introduction to handgun function and operation led by competitive shooter Sheila Hoekstra
  • Seminar on the Constitution from a Hillsdale College faculty member
  • Self-defense at home and away
  • Comparison of semi-automatic pistols and revolvers
  • How to select self-defense accessories
  • “Refuse to be a victim” course
  • An introduction to clay-target shooting led by Halter Shooting Center Range Master Bart Spieth

Participants ages 21 and up are welcome. Light-recoiling handguns will be available, and attendees may bring their own firearms with prior approval from event staff.

Hillsdale College is grateful to Winchester and Smith & Wesson for their continued support of the Ladies and Couples for Liberty shooting camps.
