Completed in 1992, the Sage Center for the Arts now houses the Art, Theatre, and Speech Departments.
The heart of the building is Markel Auditorium, a 353-seat amphitheatre complete with a 40-foot thrust stage and an orchestra pit that can be raised or lowered.
In addition to classrooms and faculty offices, Sage Center for the Arts features three large art studios, a photography lab, a graphic design lab, a performance/dance studio, a theatre design studio, a scene shop, prop storage facilities, a costume shop, makeup and dressing rooms, lighting catwalks and a fully computerized control center for sound, lighting, radio production, and audio and video recording.
Daughtrey Gallery, located near the building’s main entrance, has hosted numerous professional exhibits as well as works by Hillsdale faculty and students.
