Hillsdale College Politics Faculty Position

The Department of Politics & The Van Andel Graduate School of Statesmanship at Hillsdale College invite application for a tenure-track faculty position (rank open), beginning August, 2015. Teaching responsibilities will primarily be in Political Philosophy (specialization open), so candidates should have a strong backround in that area. Additional teaching specialties are welcome, including American Thought/Politics and International Relations (or comparative politics or American Foreign Policy). Applicants should be aware that their teaching responsibilities will range from an introductory core course for freshmen and sophomores to gradaute level classes. Since the Department services a graduate program, candidates will also need to have a record of scholarly publication.

Hillsdale College is a small (1400 students) independent college of liberal arts, dedicated to excellence in teaching & advising students. Biochemistry Position at Hillsdale College

The Chemistry Department at Hillsdale College invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position in biochemistry. The position starts August 2015 and requires passionate commitment to teaching and research at the undergraduate level. Hillsdale is a thriving, collegial, ACS-approved department with outstanding students and facilities. Each year we graduate 15-25 majors in chemistry and biochemistry. We seek an enthusiastic colleague to join in teaching expanding courses in biochemistry and related areas. The ideal applicant will also have strengths and experience in analytical or physical chemistry so as to be able to teach a foundational course in one of those branches of chemistry in addition to all levels of undergraduate biochemistry. The new faculty member is also likely to share in teaching either general chemistry or the liberal arts core chemistry course. Research area is open but must be suitable for undergraduate participation. Ph.D. required. One Tenure-Track Position Available in Mathematics

Applications are invited for a tenure-track position in mathematics or applied mathematics at the assistant professor level beginning in August 2015.

Candidates for this position are required to have a Ph. D. in mathematics by the time of appointment and to be willing to teach various undergraduate mathematics courses.

Candidates must also have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching undergraduate mathematics.  Duties for this position include teaching three courses per semester at all levels of undergraduate mathematics.  The Department offers majors in both mathematics and computational mathematics and graduates approximately 15 majors per year.

Staff Positions

Informational Technology Services  - Programmer Analyst

The Information Technology Services Department at Hillsdale College is seeking an individual for the position of Programmer Analyst.

Responsibilities of this position include integrating web, Microsoft applications, and enterprise solutions by developing applications using a combination of the following programming languages; ASP.NET, VB.Net, C#, VB Script, TSQL, and JavaScript in a professional environment.  Experience with Microsoft SQL Server databases, reporting services (or Crystal Reports), integration services and analysis services.  Working knowledge of Ellucian Colleague and or Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge in a higher education environment is a plus. 

 Characteristics:  Problem solving, organization, work with minimal supervision, teamwork, adapt and support change.

A Bachelor's degree and two to four years related experience and/or training is needed or an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Microsoft Certified Developer credentials a plus; will work toward certification.

Part Time Jobs (no benefits)

Custodian

At the Academy - The shift will be Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. only on days the Academy is open. The custodian will perform all types of cleaning throughout the building and set up and tear down for lunch each day.

Custodian

Shifts from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday and 6:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. on Thursday and Friday with a half-hour lunch each week. The custodian will perform all types of cleaning in various buildings throughout campus and will assist with laundry as needed.

Dow Center Hotel Guest Services Team Member

Responsibilities include housekeeping in guest rooms, meeting rooms, public areas, and restrooms as well as conference room set-ups, laundry, and front desk operations.

Must provide excellent customer service and perform job duties with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy and be a self-motivator who is able to follow directions thoroughly. Individual must be able to work flexible start/stop times, including weekends, based on occupancy and customer needs.

Dow Center Hotel Weekend Night Auditor

Hours for this night position are Saturday and Sunday 11:30 p.m. – 7:30 a.m. Primary duties are to analyze and process the daily work of the hotel and conference center while handling front desk operations. Basic office skills, an understanding of general math, experience using a computer along with bookkeeping/accounting a must.

This person must provide excellent customer service, be able to multi-task, perform job duties with attention to detail, speed and accuracy and be a self-motivator who is able to follow directions thoroughly. The person also must be a team player and able to help in other guest services and housekeeping areas as needed. Individual must be able to work flexible start/stop times, including weekends, based on occupancy and customer needs.
