Kappa Kappa Gamma

Kappa Kappa Gamma

Kappa Kappa Gamma was founded October 13, 1870, at Monmouth College, Monmouth, Illinois. In 1881, the Kappa chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma was founded at Hillsdale College. Originally, members of Hillsdale’s Kappa Kappa Gamma held their meetings on the top floor of East Hall, which stood next to Central Hall. From there they moved their meetings to what is now the Alpha Tau Omega house, previously the home of former President Mauck. The expansion of their current house enabled them to add additional bedrooms, a chapter meeting room and a guest bedroom. Kappa chapter has consistently earned honors as a top sorority nationally.

Pi Beta Phi

Pi Beta Phi

Pi Beta Phi was founded at Monmouth College, in Monmouth, Illinois, on April 28, 1867. Its first name was I.C. Sorosis, the first national secret society of women to be modeled after the Greek letter fraternities of men. Twenty years later, on May 21, 1887, the seven chapter members petitioned, and the Michigan Alpha chapter was admitted into the sisterhood at Hillsdale College. Pi Beta Phi was the second sorority on campus. Pi Beta Phi was selected to come to the campus because it was then considered one of the strongest national sororities, as well as the oldest. The Hillsdale chapter has consistently earned honors as a top sorority nationally.
