The Hillsdale College Swing Club, also known as the Hillsdale Hepcats, provides opportunities to learn and dance swing from the 1930s-1940s. Student instructors teach lessons in various swing dancing styles: East Coast, West Coast, Lindy Hop, Shag, Charleston and Balboa. The group meets once per week on Friday or Saturday night with beginner and intermediate lessons starting at 8:00 p.m. and open dancing at 9:00 p.m. The club is open to all with no charge.
The club has held numerous themed nights, invited professional dance instructors for workshops on campus, and made trips to Ann Arbor, Michigan, to dance in a larger swing scene. The club also helps host the annual Winter Soiree, a philanthropic swing event, with Circle K and the Whitley Resident.
