High School students and rising Hillsdale College freshmen are invited to study the principles of Constitutional government with Hillsdale College faculty while practicing marksmanship at the John Anthony Halter Shooting Sports Education Center.

  • Following the faculty lecture series, participants will participate in a Constitutional Essay Writing Competition. The winner of this competition will be awarded a $4,000 Hillsdale College scholarship.
  • Students of all experience levels with firearms are welcome; time at the range will be spent with students of a similar skill level so that all may benefit from tailored instruction and practice with our experienced coaches.
  • An assortment of firearms will be provided for student use; students wishing to bring their own firearms must obtain special permission from our Range Master.
  • Cost is $200 per student, which includes all meals, lodging in College residence halls, all program activities, and transportation to and from the Detroit Metropolitan airport, if needed.
  • The recommended application date is May 1. Applicants applying after May 1 will be admitted on a rolling basis, within two weeks of completing an application
  • Students 15 -18 (or entering their freshman year of college) are eligible to apply for this program.
