Hillsdale College Receives A+ from Forbes for Financial Health
The College is the only Michigan school to receive highest ranking
Hillsdale, Mich. – Hillsdale College received an A+ rating from Forbes in its recently listed College Financial Health Grades. Of 933 private colleges in the United States ranked by Forbes, just 34 colleges received an A+ grade. Hillsdale College is the only private school in Michigan to receive top marks.
“Hillsdale College does not accept any government funding, which allows us true financial independence,” said Patrick Flannery, Vice President for Finance and Treasurer of Hillsdale College. “We work to be good stewards of the College’s resources, and we are grateful to the donors and friends that make this independence possible.”
The Forbes report analyzed the financial records for the nation’s 933 private colleges with an enrollment of 500 students or more. The rankings were created from data drawn from the National Center for Education Statistics database, which focused on admission yields, grants, instruction expenses, and overall operational soundness. In the Forbes ranking, Hillsdale College was given a 4.5 GPA and was the only private college in Michigan to receive an A+ grade.
In Forbes’ Top Colleges 2019 listing, Hillsdale College was ranked 195th out of the 650 top universities in the country and was ranked 137th in private colleges, 72nd in liberal arts universities, and 33rd for the Midwest.
