Frequently Asked Questions
When do I receive my Hillsdale e-mail account?
Early in June, you should receive a mailing with instructions about how to establish your Hillsdale e-mail account and access your incoming student portal.
When will I learn which residence hall I’m in and who my roommate will be?
Residence hall and room assignments will be made available to you early in July. If you’d like to request a specific roommate, you and the other student must indicate the request on your housing form, or contact the appropriate Dean.
When will I receive a bill for tuition, room, board, and fees?
All billing is completed through Hillsdale’s Online Bill Payment system. Your first bill will be available to you in mid-July. Student accounts are updated weekly throughout the academic year so that billing information is current.
When do I get my class schedule?
Course schedules and orientation schedules are sent to your Hillsdale e-mail address early in August, after which time you can also access your schedule through the Web Advisor student information system. (For billing purposes only, an interim, full-time schedule is created for you in early July. Your final schedule will be created early in August.)
When can I move in / Can I move in early?
All new student housing opens at 9:00 a.m. on the Saturday of Orientation Weekend. Students driving less than four hours are encouraged to arrive on Sunday, when Orientation officially begins. The Orientation schedule allows ample time for move-in, registration, and first-day activities before formal programming begins with Convocation late afternoon.
If I have to move in early because of athletics, how will I know what date to arrive?
You will be notified during the summer. If you have any questions, please contact your coach for details.
What will my mailing address be, and can I send things to my residence hall before arriving?
The mailing address of your residence hall will be available to you when you receive your residence hall and room assignment early in July. Each student has their own mailbox located in the lower level of the Grewcock Student Union that can be accessed with their residence hall front door key. Each box is organized by residence hall, room number, and then alphabetically by resident last name (For example, if you live in room 123, your last name is Hillsdale, and your roommate’s last name is Charger, your box number will be 123B, and your roommate’s box will be 123A). Large packages are delivered to the Production Mail Room in the lower level of Moss Hall if they’re from the United States Postal Service, and directly to your residence hall if they’re from UPS or FedEx. You will receive an e-mail notification when a package must be picked-up from Moss during regular business hours. Packages can be shipped the week before arriving to campus.
