Van Andel Graduate School in Washington D.C. Announces Fall 2020 Visiting Faculty
Faculty include noted columnist and author Henry Olsen
Washington, D.C. — Hillsdale College’s Steve and Amy Van Andel Graduate School of Government is pleased to announce the visiting faculty for its Fall 2020 semester, which will include Washington Post columnist and author Henry Olsen. Additional visiting faculty will include noted scholars Dr. Lucas Morel of Washington & Lee University and Dr. Bradley Watson of Saint Vincent College.
“The Hillsdale campus in Washington, D.C., hosts some of the best and most insightful thinkers and lecturers in American politics,” said Dr. Matthew Spalding, Dean of the Van Andel Graduate School of Government. “We look forward to having them in the classroom.”
Henry Olsen will serve as an Adjunct Lecturer in Politics and will teach a course on the 2020 presidential and congressional elections. Mr. Olsen is currently an opinion columnist for The Washington Post, where he writes daily pieces focusing on politics, populism, foreign affairs, and American conservative thought. He is also a senior fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy Center and is the author of The Working Class Republican: Ronald Reagan and the Return of Blue-Collar Conservatism.
Dr. Lucas Morel will serve as the Worsham Teaching Fellow and will teach a course on the statesmanship of Frederick Douglass. Dr. Morel is the John K. Boardman, Jr. Professor of Politics at Washington & Lee University, and is the author of Lincoln and the American Founding and Ralph Ellison and the Raft of Hope: A Political Companion to Invisible Man, among other works.
Dr. Bradley Watson will be the Distinguished Fellow in Jurisprudence and will teach a course on constitutional jurisprudence. Dr. Watson holds the Philip M. McKenna Chair in American and Western Political Thought at Saint Vincent College and is Co-Director of the Center for Political and Economic Thought and Chairman of the Politics Department. He is the author of Progressivism: The Strange History of a Radical Idea and Living Constitution, Dying Faith: Progressivism and the New Science of Jurisprudence.
