Hillsdale College Featured Cantus Men’s Vocal Ensemble
National vocal ensemble performs third concert on campus — first in Christ Chapel
Hillsdale, Mich. — Hillsdale College hosted Cantus Men’s Vocal Ensemble in Christ Chapel on Sept. 11, as part of its 2021-2022 Professional Artist Series (PAS). This was Cantus’s third campus visit, their first in Christ Chapel. The ensemble performed “My Journey, Yours,” an exploration of the reason why people leave their homelands, and showcased its trademark range with a tapestry of music from around the world.
“It was special and inspiring to hear one of the nation’s few full-time vocal ensembles in Christ Chapel,” said James Holleman, professor and chair of music at Hillsdale College. “Beyond being spectacular musicians, Cantus has a captivating approach and told a compelling story.”
College and community members attended the free concert. The performance was the third PAS event on campus this semester, following contemporary oil painter Maria Kreyn, whose work will remain in the campus’s Daughtrey Art Gallery through Oct. 10, and Eisenhower Dance Detroit, who performed on campus Friday, Sept. 10.
