Hillsdale College Announces its 2021-2022 Fireside Lecture Series
The series takes place over five weekends at the College’s Rockwell Lake Lodge
Hillsdale, Mich. — Hillsdale College announces the opening of its 2021-2022 Fireside Lecture Series. The series includes five weekend-long sessions with five different Hillsdale College professors at the College’s Rockwell Lake Lodge in Luther, Michigan.
This is the third year that the series has been offered.“The Fireside Lecture Series is an opportunity for friends of the College to have one-on-one interactions with professors and fellowship with like-minded throughout a relaxed, fun weekend,” said Kristine Healy, director of the Fireside Lecture Series and event manager for the College’s Dow Center and Rockwell Lake Lodge.Added: The Rockwell Lake Lodge has 10 luxury guest suites and each features a living room, kitchenette, and private balcony. This makes for an intimate attendance of approximately 20 guests per series. Each weekend includes a night of light live entertainment and dessert.The full lineup for the academic year includes:
Nov. 5-7, 2021: “Remembering the Two World Wars”
Tom Conner, retired William P. Harris Chair in Military History at Hillsdale College
Dec. 3-5, 2021: “Why is Christmas on Dec. 25th?”
Ken Calvert, professor of ancient history (sold out; waitlist only)
Feb. 18-20, 2022: “Mere Orthodoxy: A Guide to G.K. Chesterton and C.S. Lewis” Brad Birzer, professor of history and Russell Amos Kirk Chair in American Studies
March 25-27, 2022: “The Life and Travels of the Apostle Paul”
Don Westblade, assistant professor of religion
May 6-8, 2022: “The New Left and the Rise of Identity Politics and Critical Race Theory”
Kevin Slack, associate professor of politics
