HILLSDALE, Mich. — Hillsdale College announced the newest recipient of the Judith Finn Memorial Award, Joshua Robe.

“Joshua exemplifies the curiosity and willingness to learn that any serious student should embody,” said Ronald J. Pestritto, dean of the graduate school and professor of politics. “He has been a great addition to our program, and I have no doubt he will thrive in whatever path he chooses.”

Robe received his master’s degree in politics this year from the college’s Van Andel Graduate School of Statesmanship. Robe’s academic interests include the relationship between religion, politics, law, and economics and the American Founding. Upon graduation, Robe will attend law school and plans to pursue a career in constitutional law as member of a constitutional litigation organization or in legal academia.

“I am extremely grateful to receive the Judith Finn Memorial Award,” said Robe. “Every day of my time at Hillsdale has challenged me to grow, and it has been a joy to learn so much from the faculty and my fellow graduate students. Hillsdale is a rare and beautiful community. I pray that we who have been blessed to enjoy this privilege will prove ourselves worthy of it by living with diligence and gratitude for those like Judith who have so generously supported us.

The Judith Finn Memorial Award is presented each spring to a Hillsdale College master’s graduate based on his thesis or comprehensive exam and overall graduate program performance. The winner is selected by a committee of faculty members from the Graduate School of Statesmanship.
