Hillsdale, Mich. – Hillsdale College is proud to announce that the school was recently named a 2017-2018 College of Distinction. This award recognizes Hillsdale College as an institution exhibiting excellence in four key areas of good undergraduate education – engaged students, great teaching, vibrant community and successful outcomes – as determined by awarding organization Colleges of Distinction.

“It’s an honor to be recognized for the quality of education Hillsdale offers our students,” said Doug Banbury vice president of admissions at Hillsdale College. “The award focuses on rigorous curriculum standards as well as class size and faculty-to-student ratios, and we are proud to be included.”

Hillsdale will be featured in the Colleges of Distinction guidebook that will be published in September. The organization’s annual guidebook and website serve as a resource in the college search to more than 40,000 guidance counselors and thousands of parents and students.

For more than 15 years Colleges of Distinction has worked to help students find “the right college” by identifying the unique strengths of exceptional teaching-centered institutions across the country. Unlike other ranking systems, schools are not evaluated by traditional measures like endowment size, selectivity or prestige. To receive the title “College of Distinction,” an institution is assessed on quality core curriculum standards and extracurricular learning opportunities, as well as qualitative measures like class size and faculty-to-student ratios, among others.
